Colostrum Collection Procedures -
Collection
does not have to be from a Miniature Horse... it can be collected from ANY
HORSE = ) We are in the process of contacting several full
size horse breeding farms for their participation in this free
program. You can collect a lot more colostrum faster from a full size
mare than a mini. More Information Coming Soon!
How Much Do We Need to Collect?
The amount of colostrum needed from ultimate protection is 60cc's or more. The more the collected better, but be sure your mare's own foal has received their share. Collection should be made with 6 hours after foaling.
Suggested methods of collecting & freezing:

Stacy Score collects her colostrum from the mare and places in an ice cube tray to freeze. She can then add more colostrum as mares foal and freeze cubes in separate bags.Scott Creek Farm

Joanne Anderson collects from the mare with wide mouth measuring cup and then pours the collected colostrum into Playtex type bottle liners. They already have the measurement notches on the bag, label it on top and then freezes the bags. You could still add more than one mares colostrum to the bag.Miniature Ventures -
Maryann Cerullo has quite a bit of information on her website. Maryann also collects with a measuring cup and pours them into an ice cube tray for freezing then adds several different mares colostrum in separate baggies and marks them.
